As you already know, BrightRock has joined forces with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in a CSI partnership and the two initiatives we support as our official partner projects are Skateistan in Johannesburg, and United Through Sport in Gqeberha.
Both these initiatives create a brighter future for the youth and celebrate sporting excellence. So far this year, we’ve been part of some proud and bright moments where we created change for good and want to share them with you.
Making positive change, the BrightRock way
In celebration of Mandela Day this July, we hosted 15 children from Skateistan at our Head Office in Sandton and 9 children from United Through Sport in Gqeberha. It was a fun info-packed day where some of our BrightRockers shared stories about their careers, our bright company and just how much we Love Change. We’re proud to say that together, we united for change!
Giving children from Skateistan the full BrightRock experience
In August, we gave 30 children from Skateistan a full #LoveChange BrightRock experience. The children joined us as special guests for a lekker local derby in the stands and experienced the Vodacom Bulls clash against the Fidelity ADT Lions at Emirates Airline Park.
In Gqeberha, United Through Sport hosted their sports day in September at Sithembile Junior Secondary School. In true BrightRock style, our BrightRockers showed up in full support and sprinkled a lot of BrightRock magic!
Working with Laureus to create positive change
The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation hosted their annual Charity Ball at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in September. Our CEO, Suzanne Stevens, along with our Executive Director, Sean Hanlon, Managing Distribution Executives and Financial Advisers attended the charity ball. This event is more than just a prestigious gala dinner, it is about raising funds to create positive and long-lasting change.
The positive pledge to Rise Against Hunger
In August this year, we did things a little differently. We worked with Rise Against Hunger, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering communities by providing life-changing aid and eradicating hunger, one meal at a time. This amazing organisation runs permanent early childhood development feeding programmes in seven provinces, with targeted projects in each region of the country, and a response network across South Africa.
We invited you to help us pledge to Rise Against Hunger. As usual, BrightRockers, you showed up. With your act of kindness, we’re able to help change the lives of children by giving them a chance at a bright future. In addition to the individual donations of our generous BrightRockers, BrightRock as a business also donated to this worthy cause. We’re proud to say that together, our donations provided 5 400 meals to children in need – which means we were able to feed 900 children for six days, or to provide a single meal to over 5 000 children. Thank you, Bright Sparks, your donations made a positive difference!
