From donations to discoveries: Read to Lead book drive delivers

What started as a simple call to “share your love of reading” turned into a powerful show of your generosity. Over April, BrightRock rallied behind Unite Through Sport and their Read to Lead literacy programme – proving once again that small actions, multiplied across our teams, can create a real impact.
We held our Read to Lead book initiative on Friday, 8 May, and it was a wonderful success. Thank you to everyone who donated, sorted, or helped spread the word. You make us proud, BrightRockers!
Because of your generosity, we collected a fantastic mix of new and gently loved children’s books for ages 5-13 years (including age-appropriate reads for older learners) in English, isiXhosa, and Afrikaans. These stories will help grow the libraries at Astra and Isaac Booi Primary Schools and strengthen the teaching and reading programme at Malabar Primary School.
Like sport, books have the power to inspire, unite, and change what’s possible – building confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. Every book donated helps a child practise reading, grow in confidence, and discover new worlds.
